Set Lighting

These are some stills from two music videos that we have taken inspiration from, (Left: Jenny Lewis - Just One Of The Guys, Right: The 1975 - Girls). We liked the use of colour with the high-key lighting in both videos, particularly the Jenny Lewis video.

Another inspirational music video: Mcfly - Love Is On The Radio

This is a video of us moving lights to get the look that we wanted for the set. We were struggling because we wanted the colours on the cyclorama to be as vibrant as possible but when we lit the band members properly, the light leaked onto the back, making the colours less vibrant. We used the barn doors on the lights to block off the light that leaked onto the back and tried to angle the lights so that they avoided the cyclorama while lighting the set well.

Testing different lighting setups

We experimented with different colours and saved some of the lighting setups that we made so that we wouldn't have to recreate them from scratch on the shoot days, saving valuable time.

Lighting Setups

This video shows some of the test shots that we filmed on the set. For the real shoot we will have a white floor but we mainly wanted to see what the colour in the background looked like and, overall, I was pretty pleased with how it looks. I was able to get some steady shots using the tripod but we will have a glidecam for the real shoots so the steadiness of the shots wasn't really important in this video.
